Donated Organ in our Choir Loft

Dear brothers and sisters,

In 1963 Pope Paul VI promulgated the document “Sacrosanctum Concilium” on the liturgy. This document was approved by the vote of the Fathers of the Second Vatican Council.

In number 120, we read, “In the Latin Church the pipe organ is to be held in high esteem, for it is the traditional musical instrument which adds a wonderful splendor to the Church’s ceremonies and powerfully lifts up man’s mind to God and to higher things.”

Providentially, two weeks ago, we were contacted by the Mother Cabrini Shrine to see if we would be interested in receiving a donation of their electronic organ. After consulting with Fr. Sam, we were glad to accept the donation, and on Tuesday, January 31, the movers brought the organ and put it in the choir loft with the help of a lift.

On Wednesday of last week, the organ technician serviced it and finalized its installation. I’m glad to report that this beautiful instrument fills the whole Church with a fantastic sound!

I pray that the organ will be as the Fathers of the Second Vatican Council desired, an instrument that adds a wonderful splendor to our Masses and lifts our minds to God and the things of heaven.

Our transition to the organ will take some time as our musician learns this instrument. In the meantime, I ask you to pray for our music ministry.

May our Lady of Guadalupe keep guiding us daily in our journey to heaven.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Richard, MC
